electric guitar cake

I got lots of inspiration from Cake Central for this electric guitar cake for my son. I ended up just buying the guitar-shaped pan at Michael's. He was pretty excited about it. He picked out the red sparkle gel himself. Wilton makes it now - in red, yellow, blue, etc. It sure was easier than doing all those stars on SpongeBob!

That turned out really well. I bet your son loved it. It must be pretty great to have a Mom who does such wonderful cakes!

Hi, I am using this same pan for a cake I plan to do later this week.. the pan seems to be a very broad shape and you did well drawing on the cake to make the outline, do you think it would work the same if I cut it to shape instead of drawing to shape? (if that makes sense)

Hi! I think it would depend which part(s) of the cake you're talking about cutting...

The only part that felt "broad" to me was the neck - it just seemed like it should be longer and skinnier. But, I would be afraid to cut that part - I'd be nervous that it would break.

Personally, I don't like to mess with the structure of the cake too much if I can help it. But, if you're comfortable cutting it down to the size you want, then go for it!
